Brought to you by the UA Alumni Career Lab. Transcription Interviewer: How do you inspire direct reports and enable them to perform at a high level? John Lai: Right. So I think the best people… the best people want freedom and autonomy to make independent decisions, giving them the opportunity to fail. And not be micro-managed. And so we encourage a culture where trial and error, you know, making calculated but measured mistakes because you won’t know until you try. And so there’s this entrepreneurial kind of thread throughout our entire organization that says "experiment, try." And people love to create, right? People don’t like to be told what to do -- manage this and control that.
